Gauntlet/forearm, helmet, shoulderbell
As if I dont already have enough projects going on, I recently did a Pepakura Iron Man helmet and a few other parts just to see if I could. It's kinda been a secret project because I didn't want to say I was going to make it and then not deliver.
It started with card stock, hot glue and a dream. Then I brushed fiberglass inside...and used a tip from Dale who convinced me to buy powerstretch awhile back. Just used a few strips and it worked very well for support. Then it was time for bondo on the outside. Then sanding, sanding, crying, sanding, more crying, then sanding (sorry stole that line from Laban). And finally taped off the different parts and spraypainted it with the colors I had on hand. It has a few flaws, but it was more to see if I could do it.
I've made a latex mold and a plaster mother mold of all three...so I can do a few casts. I have a bicep piece made but not painted.
TPC Global has some great airbrush paint for cars that I'm dying to buy and try on this thing. I'll get some one of these days.
I found some cool clay that's better than the Van Whatever I've been using before...not sure what the name is since it was a gift from someone. A ton of it. I've done a few sculpts of some of the other IM pieces and eventually want to mold those too.
Oh well, hope you enjoy.
