Heroes Alliance, at the core, is a community service organization. We go to conventions, like other costuming groups. But we are different in that we use our time, talent, and treasures to strive to make the world a better place like the heroes we imitate. I'm very honored to be part of this group as I see the big impact that costumers can have in the world.
Some of the things we do is make appearances at community events. We visit children's hospitals and we also raise funds for certain charities that we like.
One of the things we did this year a few days before Christmas was a visit to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and also a visit to BASE Camp (Kid's Cancer Charity). All of the kids were absolutely amazing, but I think the kids from BASE Camp really hold a special place in our heart. Most of those kids had been or were going through the Hell that is cancer treatment. But there was no bitterness or sadness about them. They were just very happy that the Justice League decided to stop by and play a game of catch with them. We gave them and the kids from St. Joseph's toys, and just seeing that we brought a little joy to their lives really made us feel a little more like heroes. I could go on, but sometimes pictures speak better than words.
Here are some letters of appreciation that BASE Camp and St. Joseph's has sent to us. The one from BASE Camp Coordinator Jackie Ellis is especially nice.
If you think that Heroes Alliance is something you'd like to get involved with, please don't hesitate to message any of us. I really believe in Heroes Alliance and what we do. My hand is open to all of you!
